A little French inspired roombox

I made this little roomboxand everything in it for a friend's birthday.
She loves French things!
It's very small and was quite hard to photograph.

I think the box was once a photo box, Liberty found it in the rubbish collection!
This last photo was taken before it was finished.

Lately I haven't been making minis so much, I've been working on things in the real house...and Liberty's playhouse...much more to show you soon!

I am very happy to tell you my dear friend Sabiha, who is not only a very talented miniaturist, she is also an interior decorater, has a blog called 'Lifestyle Interiors' and she is having a fabulous giveaway!

Visit her blog to participate!

And I must thank you all for your lovely comments on Liberty's birthday party.
I think I'll print them out to show her when she's a teenager, lol!

A scene in a little birdcage

Here's a little something I made for Sabiha's birthday.
The cage is 11cm (4 and a half inches) high.

It wasn't until I finished it that I realised I made EVERYTHING in the cage myself!

Thank you to all the people who have emailed asking about the earthquake that occured here in New Zealand at 4:35 on Saturday morning. I live a long way from where the quake hit and no effects were felt here.
The quake registered 7.1 on the Richter scale and the devastation it caused in Christchurch (NZ's second largest city) is unbelievable you can see pics here.
Many historic buildings have been destroyed.
But the most incredible thing is that no one died, which is really amazing when you see the destruction.

A little country basket

I made this basket from a tutorial I found here. It's all in French but her tute is full of easy to follow pictures.

As with everything I do I made it in a great hurry...
so it's a bit wonky but I think that just adds to its country charm!

Little 'metal' tables

I've been having quite a lot of fun making these little tables.

Slightly rusty.

Galvanised.

Rusty.

And a big brother to go with the rusty one.

I think the slightly rusty one looks like it belongs here in the shabby house. The little 'Statue of Liberty' came from a tiny snowglobe that belonged to Liberty. She was absolutely heartbroken when she dropped the globe and it smashed into a million pieces...I, however, was rather happy to see that tiny little statue.
I've had a LOT of computer trouble in the past week which is why you haven't heard much from me. Of course having no computer has meant that I've had more time to make things...more to show you soon!

Some shabby details

I've been making a few little things for the shabby house.
A very shabby book.

A shabby magazine. The title of the magazine is 'Flea Market Style' (a perfectly shabby title!) it is a new magazine and is unfortunately not available in my part of the world. Linda MacDonald is the editor at large of the magazine, her wonderful blog 'Restyled Home' I have followed for a long time, plenty of great (inexpensive) decorating ideas there! And here is the Flea Market Style blog.

I asked the super-talented Rosanna to embroider me a piece of fabric that I could make into a shabby footstool and she sent me this exquisite piece (quite some time ago I should tell you!).

Last night I finally made it into this.
The shabby house is nearing completion. Once I've finished all the little details (ha, ha! will I ever be finished?!) I'll take you on a shabby tour!

Just having some fun!

I made these little dolls while I was away on holiday. They're smaller than the last lot, about 2.5 - 3cm tall.

I was inspired to pose them on the stage (which is in an old book I have) for the new blog header by Patricia at Papillon Bleu UK. Patricia has been making the sweetest little theatres. She also makes the most beautiful dolls and tells wonderful stories. Her world is an absolute delight to visit!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year to everyone who stops by here! 2009 has been a great year for me, I hope 2010 is just as wonderful for everyone!
I made a few dolls to send across the world for Christmas...there are still a few more waiting to be finished (why does December always fly by?!)

This was the first little doll I have ever made and I sent her to Maia as part of my Christmas swap gift.

Then I couldn't resist making this little witch to send to Susanna as a late addition to the Advent Calendar.

A vintage looking doll for Sylvia.

All in pure white silk from my wedding dress for Linda.

Pretty and fresh looking for Sabiha.

And all rosy for Rosanna.
We're going on a summer holiday in the next few days and I'm taking a little tin of things that are waiting to be finished!
2010 - the year of finishing things, lol!

The Shabby House

The exterior of the shabby house is almost finished. Anne helped me to make the doors, windows and weatherboards.
Now I need to decide what to put on the roof.
The house will sit on a board so it will have a little yard around it - I'm looking forward to filling that up!
