Published again and a New Project!!!

I am privileged to have an article on the Shabby Cottage published in the September 2013 issue of The Dolls' House Magazine.

This magazine is published in Great Britain.
I'd like to thank Karen and Christiane for asking me to be part of their Shabby Chic issue.

And in other news...
Look at what I found at the Op shop (Thrift Store) the other day.
The cutest little shed was sitting there on the shelf just waiting for me to come along!
As I don't really like the actual building part of creating a miniature house this has got me very excited...the possibilities are endless...
more to come!!!!
And you'll be pleased to know the Customs officers have finished playing with Sylvia's package and the toilet and basin have arrived here!

A bath for Liberty's house

I've been working on the bathroom in Liberty's dollhouse.
It was the last room that really needed attention.
I don't really like doing bathrooms I have to say!
I had to really push myself to get this room of her house started.

Kim Saulter sent Liberty the gorgeous bath. It had brass legs and fittings but I painted them brushed chrome.
I had to find a quick way to make tiles (I like things to happen fast!).
I found some scraps of pretty scrapbooking paper and used a Cuttlebug embosser to get a tile effect.
It annoys me that the tiles don't match up in the corner but that was all the paper I had.
It's by no means perfect but Liberty is happy with the result!

Well, she was happy until she went to rearrange everything in her dollhouse and discovered the shower is now fixed in place.
Ahhh, 9 year olds!
I have to tie my hands behind my back and bite my tongue and remind myself it is HER dollhouse NOT mine when she moves all the furniture around!
Kim sent her the little cupboard too.
And Sylvia has mailed her a toilet and hand basin but I think the customs officers must be playing with it!

My little houses in Daphne's Diary!

The July/August issue of Daphne's Diary - a most beautiful lifestyle magazine for women - arrived here in my mailbox all the way from the Netherlands today. I am thrilled to be able to tell you there is an article about me and my dollhouses in this issue.
Daphne's Diary is a Dutch magazine and it doesn't matter at all that I don't understand Dutch because the pictures and style of the magazine are absolutely breathtaking.
The whole magazine is set out in the style of a beautiful shabby scrapbook.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Wendy for asking me to be part of this gorgeous magazine
and to Henk for his very clever editing of my photos.
The website for the magazine is here - Daphne's Diary.
I believe it is available in The Netherlands and Belgium and Germany (thank you Lotte!).

Liberty's 9th Birthday - Alice in Wonderland Party

A couple of weeks ago Liberty turned 9!
This year she requested an 'Alice in Wonderland' party.
She asked me to make her an 'Alice' dress...I finished it at midnight the night before the party.

My helpful hubby built me a trestle table especially for the party!

I've done many parties for other people in the past year but Liberty had a lot of her own ideas for her party!
We made all the cookies and cupcakes.

The birthday cake with a candle in a little tea cup!

She's a girl with refined taste - she asked for macarons! So I made mini macarons.
The party guests all got a china teacup to take home.

The take home cookies.

It was Liberty's idea to have the girls make a collage at the party.
Everyone had fun!

The results!
The teacup printies are from the Graphics Fairy.

We used Liberty's playhouse as a photo booth.
My wonderful friend Pauline was once again my star photographer.

The girls all had fun making themselves look extra tall!

'Throw the Sugar Cubes into Teacups' was a fun game!

They also played croquet.

There was lots of laughter!
Liberty had very definite ideas about how the invitation should look.
She asked me to make a pop-up card.
When I said I wasn't sure I could do that she replied, "But mum, you can do anything!"

As it turned out I discovered I could make a pop-up!
It was another great party and all the little ladies really enjoyed themsleves!
Liberty said it was better than she had even imagined!
As for me - I'm all partied out!
