I was being very lazy this morning (it's Saturday here) sitting on the couch flicking through Kim's beautiful book.
Kim's minis always inspire me...and I've decided it might be time for a makeover in the Country House.
The Country kitchen as it is now.
There are plenty of things that annoy me about this house. For one: it is a big and heavy house and it takes up a lot of room in my tiny craft space. And for another: the configuration of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. But with a bit of thought (sometimes it's hard to think with kids running around all the time!) I'm sure I can solve a few of my issues.
Every now and then I think I should get rid of it but then I look inside and realise I can't part with it!
It's the house that started me off on my mini-making adventures...and what amazing adventures I have had!
So now I'm thinking it's time for a complete makeover...a new look!
Watch this space...I'm excited!

Hi Mercedes! I know that doll's houses can hold special places in your heart even when you feel that you have out-grown their old decor. They are just like full-sized homes or even like our wardrobes. Sometimes it just takes a bit of tweaking to freshen up or re-configure certain accessories within a doll's house, just to allow it to catch up to our new growth level within the hobby. This doll's house of yours holds lots of memories for you and Liberty, and I am looking forward to seeing how you will up-date it and bring it back to new life so that you can fall in love with it all over again. :))

It's going to be an interesting project and I'm glad you've decided to keep it.

I let my big house go, for the reasons you stated, taking up too much room. I have not regretted it, I kept the best furniture, and am already looking at another smaller project. All my beautiful accessories I have put in a deep frame and they are on display. For me it was not the house but the contents which held my heart.

This sounds exciting! I can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteI have kept my old dollhouse... even though I have never "finished" it I keep thinking that when I really know what I am doing all the solutions to "issues" will come to me! So I keep waiting because I Love it so!
The smaller houses I have are easier to finish... but they are always so cramped in their scale... there is no substitution for the space required to get really good accurate scale details!
It's a beautiful project. I'm curious to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteJust like real-sized houses sometimes need a makeover, minis do, too! I know whatever you do, it will be amazing.
ReplyDeleteLove your new header!

I have always cherished that house and often come to look at it. But I understand how you would feel the need to redo it. So, I look forward to what you plan to do. I'm so happy to see you back with us.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can improve on perfect but if anyone can do it you can Mercedes! It will be fun seeing your plans turn into more miniature gorgeousness.
ReplyDeleteI am excited too Mercedes, can't wait to see your makeover, although it looks wonderful already to me!
ReplyDeleteSometimes change is good, and if you feel like making some changes, it will be worthwhile. It is very cute as it is, but I know how you feel regarding getting tired of something (too small, too large, not the right colour, wrong furniture, etc). I look forward to progress pics!
ReplyDeleteTo me they are amazing all the details you do, each ricones that are wonderful. If it is true that every day we overcome and we accumulate a lot of things that do not fit, also our tastes, styles change over time, but the beauty of this hobby is that you can change it as often as you like, save it in a box tea all the latest details at this moment, but serve to remember the beginning and watch every little thing that really made with much love in that moment is special, it is the magic of the craft and it is falling all your hobby.I keep falling in love with your creations, keep going! A big hug. Mònica
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be such fun!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mercedes! I'm glad that you have decided to keep the big house. Think of all time and effort you have put on it. With some up-dating you will love it again. And it's so fun and exciting to follow your projects.
ReplyDeleteI do that same thing with my sim's houses, I get tired of them so I remodel them, I cant wait to see your plans for the remodel.
ReplyDeleteI certainly will be watching this space. I am glad you have decided to give it a makeover rather than get rid of it. Mini houses deserve a makeover just as we do with out real life houses. It gives them their 'history'. I can't wait to see what you do but I know it will be fabulous. I agree Kim's work and Kim herself is inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThats a great idea to make over the house I should consider that with my large pink house, this will be very exciting seeing you refurbish Im looking for ward to it
